MSSWA also funds this website. We are developing a MSSWA E-group and pursuing on-line registration for conferences and membership.
Your membership is a way to demonstrate strength in the political arena and is seen by some as a professional responsibility. With every school social worker in the state of Minnesota joining the movement and providing quality services to Minnesota students, we can make a difference.
Membership Options
Regular: Any person employed by and responsible to a public or private school system as a school social worker so certified by the State Board of Teaching and licensed by the State Board of Social Work. The cost is $65 a year for membership.
Affiliate: Retired MSSWA members, graduate students or unemployed school social workers, professional and paraprofessional persons working in appropriate related fields. (Not a voting member, no access to website member resources). The cost is $35 per year.
Affiliate Plus: As defined above with access to website member resources for an additional $30.
Undergraduate Student Membership: Undergraduate social work students receive complimentary membership and should complete a membership form.
Illinois Journal: Written by School Social Workers for School Social Workers. The Illinois School Social Work journal, printed twice annually, is available to MSSWA members for $20.00 per year. This professional journal is directed primarily to the interests of social workers practicing in the public schools and school social work educators.

MSSWA Members Can Now Join SSWAA at a Reduced Cost
As in previous years, MSSWA members can again join national school social work organization SSWAA (School Social Work Association of America) at a reduced cost.
MSSWA members can join SSWAA for a cost of $95 for members and $60 for affiliates, a savings of $25.00.
In order to take advantage of this reduced cost, you must join MSSWA and SSWAA at the same time. (You can read more about SSWAA benefits at: www.sswaa.org)
If you wish to join SSWAA along with your MSSWA
membership, complete your membership form, and indicate your preference to join both, along with sending the appropriate payment amount.

MSW Students who are completing Graduate Research Project
Students who are conducting Graduate Level Research Projects and would like to survey School Social Worker's in Minnesota, must follow these procedures:
- Be an Affiliate Plus Member of MSSWA
- Submit a completed and approved IRB Application to Julie Porath
- Once completed and approved IRB form is received, Julie Porath, our membership co-chair will email the most current Membership List (Membership List is usually 200 or more by November 1st)
- By May 1st, submit a summary of your Student Research to Julie Porath, to be included in MSSWA's Newsletters in the Spring and Fall
