School Social Work Association of America (SSWAA)

The School Social Work Association of America empowers school social workers and promotes the profession to enhance the social and emotional growth and academic outcomes of all students. SSWAA now offers Liability Insurance (Malpractice) as an automatic member benefit at no additional cost to members. SSWAA also provides discounts for professional books and publications. Membership includes a weekly newsletter, the E‐Bell, with up‐to‐date articles affecting school social work, and position papers on best practices. SSWAA's experienced Washington DC Government Relations staff represents the interests of school social workers with legislative and regulatory agencies. The SSWAA Annual Conference offers workshops and national speakers designed for the improvement of your practice and as a member you can register with a deep discount. SSWAA provides on‐line CEU's which you can earn by reading a book from the Oxford Workshop Series and taking a quick test afterwards. SSWAA has established a process of state affiliation. School social workers in 20 Affiliate states (currently AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, IL, IA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NJ, NC, PA, SC, TN, VA, WA and WI) are eligible to join SSWAA at a $25.00 reduced rate if you join both your state organization and SSWAA, at the same time.


Midwest School Social Work Council

The Midwest School Social Work Council is a coalition of eleven Midwestern state associations (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, and Wisconsin) for school social workers. The Council consists of the eleven state presidents, their respective state consultants (if one exists), and a state school social work practitioner.

The purpose of the Council is to:

1. Actively support member state organizations

2. Create and sustain a system of communication between member states and national school social work organizations

3. Support the professional development of school social workers
